"The US Military is filled with tradition - and the US Air Force is no exception. The Air Force Academy, which has existed for 71 years, has started to link every current Academy Class to a Legacy Class--the class that graduated 50 years before the current Academy Class. Col (Ret) Rich Bowman, a Kendal at Home Member, recently took part in the ceremony, during which they forever linked Rich's Legacy Class of '74 to the USAF Academy Class of '24 through the forging of their class rings.
This is so special because Rich wore his ring throughout his career. He wore it while standing 200 alert tours under Wyoming on Minuteman III nuclear missiles as he delivered eight production B-2s to the Air Force, certified the engine for the F-22’s first flight, and while he tested tiles for the Space Shuttle.
